Fireplaces look amazing in living rooms, especially when
in a country or a region which is cold during the major
part of the year. There is no substitute for the
elegance that fireplaces and the log racks offer. This
is the reason why people still prefer fireplaces in
spite of the conveniences modern heaters offer.
The feeling they offer can be seen in a simple living
room where one wall is dedicated to a fireplace with an
equally elegant log rack placed next to it. The
fireplace makes all the difference in the world.
Many old houses still have fireplaces burning wood to
keep the house warm. When modern appliances were
introduced in the market, many people turned from the
fireplace to modern equipment. However, now the trend is
back to the fireplace look in the living room.
Apartments and houses that are designed now are
including them in their blueprints, and they are selling
well.
There is a classy tone which sets in when you have a
fireplace in the living room. In fact, if you have other
furniture which goes well with the decorations you have
around and on the fireplace; it will make a theme in
itself for the room. With some big paintings on the
wall, your living room will look like a small palace in
miniature model.
Furthermore, you can decorate the top of the fireplace
in a way that would make the upper part of the wall more
utilized and in sync with the other walls of the room.
You could use photo frames which have beautiful family
moments captured, statues, or other show pieces. Another
way of looking at it would be to use flowers with
magnificent vases. You could also change the fireplace
top decorations seasonally. Like if Christmas is around
the corner, you could have the Christmas ornaments
placed in a way that the spirit of the festive season
makes your living room live.
Heating with a fireplace is defiantly a luxury these
days as it would demand a lot time. You can not be
living the lifestyle that we have today and at the same
time maintain a fireplace as well. If you and your
spouse are working and have no domestic help, then you
can not expect to spend hours taking care of the
fireplace if you are using it on a regular basis.
Most people who have fireplaces in their living rooms do
not use the fireplace regularly but only on special
occasions. A little run around for a special day to
enjoy the fireplace is definitely worth the effort.
Hence, having a fireplace is definitely a luxury with
the kind of lifestyle that we have, but yet we can treat
ourselves with the elegance once in a while.
